  • I am running for Congress because we need someone in Washington who:
  • Really listens to us. Understands our struggles and the issues we face every day. Actually reads a bill before voting on it,
  • Who knows how a bill will affect all of us.
  • As a two-term Routt County Commissioner and a three-term State Representative:
  • I have stood up for rural Colorado at the Colorado Capitol.
  • Now I want to bring my experience and proven legislative skills to our nation’s Capitol to fight for you.
  • I have won 5 elections with comfortable margins. I won reelection to the Colorado House by in 2016 by 60.9 %.
  • As a State Rep. for two rural Western Slope counties, I have:
  • Put policies on the ground that connect communities through expanding rural broadband, fixing roads, increasing access to bike paths and public transit, especially for seniors and people with disabilities, so that we all have reliable communication and transportation choices.Worked across the aisle and with businesses, non-profits, and local governments in an effort to make health insurance and health care affordable,
  • Earned the reputation for integrity and accountability. Been endorsed, recognized, and received a 100% score card by many human rights, environmental, workers’ rights, agricultural, public education, health & mental health, outdoor industry, community advocacy, and local business groups.
  • My vision is a more just, equitable, sustainable and prosperous Colorado and America for ALL of us and ALL our children, with a level playing field where everyone has the opportunity to reach their dreams.
  • Working together, we will strengthen public education, help create good paying jobs, protect our air, water, wildlife, public health and public lands, build and maintain 21st Century infrastructure, and make high quality healthcare available and affordable so that we can all thrive together. I will fight for you and everyone in CD3.
  • I would be honored to have your support!

    • CURRENT NEWS
    • My name is Dave Young, and I just announced my campaign for Colorado State Treasurer. As a Greeley resident and math teacher, I know the challenges Colorado families face. Our state is growing rapidly. But not everyone is sharing in our state’s prosperity. Places like Greeley and rural Colorado where I come from continue to struggle. I am running for Treasurer because I believe we need to put Colorado on better financial footing, where prosperity from our growth is shared.
    • I have been a state representative since July 2011, representing east Greeley, Evans and Garden City. Over the past three years, I’ve served as chair of the House Appropriations Committee and as a member of the Joint Budget Committee focusing on solving Colorado’s budget crises.
    • Before my work as a legislator, I was a senior instructor for the Information and Learning Technologies program at the University of Colorado Denver. Prior to that, I was an information architect for a large Web services company. I started my career as a junior high math, science and technology teacher. I’ve lived in Greeley for over 40 years and I’m a native Coloradan.
    • I earned my MA in instructional design from UC Denver in 2000, and my BS in mathematics from Colorado State University in 1975. I’m married to Dr. Mary Young, a school psychologist for Centennial BOCES. My sister, who is developmentally disabled, lives in Pueblo West.
    • I’m committed to public service and community involvement. In addition to being a member of the newly-formed Donor Alliance Foundation Board of Directors, I worked as a trail maintenance volunteer for the Poudre River Trail system.
