  • I am running for Congress because we need someone in Washington who:
  • Really listens to us,
  • Understands our struggles and the issues we face every day,
  • Actually reads a bill before voting on it,
  • Who knows how a bill will affect all of us.
  • As a two-term Routt County Commissioner and a three-term State Representative:
  • I have stood up for rural Colorado at the Colorado Capitol.
  • Now I want to bring my experience and proven legislative skills to our nation’s Capitol to fight for you.
  • I have won 5 elections with comfortable margins. I won reelection to the Colorado House by in 2016 by 60.9 %.
  • As a State Rep. for two rural Western Slope counties, I have:
  • Put policies on the ground that connect communities through expanding rural broadband, fixing roads, increasing access to bike paths and public transit, especially for seniors and people with disabilities, so that we all have reliable communication and transportation choices,
  • Worked across the aisle and with businesses, non-profits, and local governments in an effort to make health insurance and health care affordable,
  • Earned the reputation for integrity and accountability,
  • Been endorsed, recognized, and received a 100% score card by many human rights, environmental, workers’ rights, agricultural, public education, health & mental health, outdoor industry, community advocacy, and local business groups.
  • My vision is a more just, equitable, sustainable and prosperous Colorado and America for ALL of us and ALL our children, with a level playing field where everyone has the opportunity to reach their dreams.
  • Working together, we will strengthen public education, help create good paying jobs, protect our air, water, wildlife, public health and public lands, build and maintain 21st Century infrastructure, and make high quality healthcare available and affordable so that we can all thrive together. I will fight for you and everyone in CD3.
  • I would be honored to have your support!

    • CURRENT NEWS
    • Sep 15 – Bernie Buescher – former Secretary of State, Deputy Attorney General of Colorado and Grand Junction lawmaker – backs Weiser in Democratic primary. “Whatever issue comes up — whether it’s health care, bringing broadband to all parts of our state, protecting our water rights, or reforming our criminal justice system — Phil will be a leader who brings people together, finds creative solutions, and gets things done.” read more
    • Sep 11 – Phil blogs about bringing innovation to the Attorney General’s office. “In my past leadership roles (in President Obama’s Administration, at the University of Colorado Law School, and in Colorado’s entrepreneurial community), I placed a premium on working collaboratively, and I always looked for new ways to do things better. I plan to bring that spirit to the Colorado Attorney General’s office.” read more
    • Sep 9 – Phil talks family legacy, equal justice for all, lessons from working for Ruth Bader Ginsberg, his career and campaign and priorities for Attorney General with Idaho Springs Radio “The idea that we need a society that gives opportunity to every American, we can’t take that for granted. And finally: our land air and water, whether we’re going to protect it, that’s in the balance right now. And so there’s a lot at stake right now, and we need good people to step up and lead. And this office matters a ton – our state’s Attorney General – and right now we’ve got someone who’s not getting it done on any of those issues, and I felt like I’ve got to raise my hand and help out. listen here
    • Sep 3 – Phil blogs about Our Nation of Immigrants. “For me, this concept is personal; my mom came to the United States in 1951 as a refugee, after being born in a Nazi concentration camp at the end of World War II. My grandparents and my mom came here because of America’s commitment to freedom and opportunity for all.” read more
    • Aug 12 – Weiser campaign hits “100 Day” mark. “While we have a long road ahead of us, I wanted to share some stats with you from these first 100 days:

    • WHY AM I AM RUNNING FOR SCHOOL BOARD IN DISTRICT E?
    • I believe in the full potential of EVERY student
    • I believe in an equitable education for ALL students. Our disenfranchised and oppressed students deserve to have the same opportunities in our community as our privileged students.
    • I believe in supporting the WHOLE child, both their academic performance and their mental health. We need to set our students up for success as educated and empathic adults in both professional and personal environments.
    • As a bridge between our school district and the mental health community, I can provide input to our school district on how to support students and teachers dealing with mental health issues so that we can effectively address the suicide epidemic currently happening in our community. As the only mental health professional running for school board, I can bring this needed expertise to our school district.
    • WHO AM I?
    • I chose to make Durango my home in 2005 with my husband, Aaron Ball, who is a faculty member in the School of Education at Fort Lewis College. We have two children and are very proud that they both attend Riverview Elementary in the Durango 9R School District as a kindergartener and 5th grader.
    • I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Colorado with a Master’s of Education in Educational Psychology from the University of Utah. As the sole owner of Southwest Psychotherapy, LLC, I have been in private practice as a Licensed Psychotherapist for nine years. I work with older adolescents and adults who are dealing with trauma or other issues getting in the way of living life to its fullest and am currently engaged in the community led suicide prevention efforts.
    • As the Community Education Coordinator for Sexual Assault Services Organization in Durango for five years, I taught students in kindergarten through 12th grade throughout the Durango School District how to prevent sexual violence or get help if needed.
    • I also spent six summers as an Instructor and Course Director in the Colorado Outward Bound School’s Southwest Program teaching 14 to 18 year olds on multi-day river, rock and land expeditions.
    • In addition to my degree in Educational Psychology, I attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA and obtained a degree in Commerce-Management in 1993.
    • My love of the outdoors includes hiking, mountain biking and rafting all the rivers in Utah and Colorado with my family.
    • Please go to my website

Most importantly, Vote for me on November 7th!
